My Husband Ran Off with the Nanny and God Do I Miss Her Tracy Davis 9781439217047 Books

With a dull midlife crisis of a husband, a lush French nanny, two obstreperous children, and a job that by turns excites and brings her close to death by boredom, Carly Macalister's life is, if not exactly stable, a disarray to which she's accustomed. Then her husband runs off, taking the nanny with him. Becoming progressively more unglued, she embarks on a lustful and ill-advised affair with a swaggering lawyer, attempts eagerly to create even some vague semblance of a normal life, and realises that the tragedies and longing of her past have never left but remain entangled and misunderstood.

The book is hilarious from the opening line, but it also has tremendous guts. It's more than just a skip-along tale of having it all and finding Mr Right just in time for a happy ending. Davis traverses the breadth and depth of her characters' experiences in a way that is so personal, it seems almost voyeuristic. The characters grieve, lust, battle, scheme, love, panic, and laugh (both hysterically and joyfully). They are fallible and complex; prone to a melange of eccentricity, hyperventilation, and settling for less than they should; and are strange and surprising in only the way that people portrayed in their everyday oddness can be. An affecting and hilarious read, it is a tale of the pathos and lunacy of everyday life.

My Husband Ran Off with the Nanny and God Do I Miss Her Tracy Davis 9781439217047 Books Reviews

This is a book that both women and men will enjoy. It is funny and at the same time reflects how difficult relationships can be.
It is a thoroughly enjoyable read and I highly recommend it.
This book could quite possibly be the worst piece of trash ever written. The characters were underdeveloped, and not in the least bit believable. The story jumped from one idea to the next, never taking the time to allow the reader to ingest what was taking place. Even the publishing of the book was second rate. This book was so bad, the author should refund anyone who spent their hard earned money on it. I would give this book negative stars if it were an option.
Bought this for a beach read..it was "OK"...it seemed like it was trying to hard to make the characters over the top and outrageous to some extent.. the storyline in many parts was just not believable (for example, her relationship with her boyfriend)... The book had many fun parts but I've read better beach reads that I'd pick over this one any day.
Definitely a beach read. Breezed right through it. Good if you're not looking for too much substance, just mindless entertainment.
If you want a good laugh that we can all relate too, this is your book. We've all been through experiences that we can look back and laugh at, Tracy has a great way of bringing out these experiences in her hysterical book. I enjoy every page! Very fast reading, and a lot of humor. Inspiring for single moms and yet is a romantic comedy. Highly reccomend it to any person who likes real entertainment.
My Husband Ran Off With The Nanny And God Do I Miss Her is one of the best books I've ever read. As a non-fiction reader and writer I usually stick to self-help type books. Tracy Davis made my long ride from New York to Washington DC go in the blink of an eye. It's a book I could not put down until I knew the outcome and along the way had many laugh out loud moments. During these stressful times everyone should buy, read, and buy some more of Ms. Davis' book for family and friends. Thank you for the great read!!!

This book was listed in my recommendations by and I couldn't resist the title. I did like the overall plot of the story but found that either the main character(or the author)seriously had ADHD. The story jumped around a lot and at times was unbelievable. Overall worthy of reading, bring to the beach.
